Proti is an islet of the Ionian Sea and is located off the village of Marathopoli in the municipality of Trifylia. The name of the island of Proti is probably due to the sea god Proteas, son of Poseidon.
It really is an island of incredible beauty and tranquility which has historical significance as a part of the ruins of the circular turrets from the Acropolis of the Mycenaean or pre-classical era still exist.
An interesting attraction is the bay of Grammeno, where the residents carved wishes on the rocks for the safe travel of the ships. The visitors of the island do the same!
